Replaced Google for research tasks
I use Perplexity for almost all my research now. The cited answers save so much time — I can see exactly where information is coming from and verify it. The Pro plan with file upload and longer answers is excellent for deep research. The daily search limit on free is a bit tight but understandable.

Great for quick research, not for complex reasoning
For 'what is X' or 'who made Y' type questions it's excellent. Where it falls short is multi-step reasoning or tasks that require integrating a lot of disparate information. The sources aren't always high quality either. But as a first research tool it's indispensable.
